Google has been named the winner of a Bronze Stevie® Award in the 2026 Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence for SAFE — a system that automates the forensic investigation of AI-generated abuse content, or “AI slop,” at platform scale.
Announced as part of the 2026 Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence, the honor recognizes Google’s work on an agentic investigation framework that helps trust & safety teams triage, cluster, and reason about generative-AI abuse across surfaces — reducing the manual effort required to attribute coordinated abuse campaigns and shortening the path from signal to enforcement.
SAFE combines large language models with retrieval, tool use, and evidence graphing so that an autonomous agent can reconstruct how a piece of AI-generated content was produced, distributed, and monetized. The result is a repeatable forensic workflow that scales with the volume and velocity of modern generative abuse.
The winning entry was contributed to by Abhinav Mathur, Platform Integrity Lead and IEEE Senior Member, whose research on agentic approaches to forensic investigation and LLM-based measurement underpins the design of SAFE.
